Staff Veterinarian- Behaviorist

The Position

Our Staff Behavior Veterinarian will consult in small animal behavior cases, conducting health and behavior evaluations, prescribing medication as needed, and will write, teach (to the client), and follow up on individualized behavior plans. The candidate will work closely with our staff Ph.D. applied animal behavior analyst, as well as a team of behaviorists and trainers, and will conduct behavioral and ethological research on both owned and MSPCA shelter animals for the purposes of publication.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must have a DVM or equivalent. Applicants must be board-certified, have completed a conforming behavior residency or be approved in a non-conforming training program. Preferred candidates will also have experience in animal shelter medicine, additionally, the ideal candidate would demonstrate cursory knowledge of, or have direct experience with, applied animal behavior analysis.

Staff Veterinarian- Cardiologist

The Position

The Angell Animal Medical Center is looking for a full-time cardiologist to join our team! We currently support one cardiologist, a visiting cardiologist, and three to four cardiology residents.

We have a long (100 year) history of clinical excellence and have been training cardiology residents since 1988; come to the hospital that first developed specialty veterinary training. Angell is a values-based organization, where service, excellence, collaboration, integrity, compassion, and positivity play an everyday part in our practice.

Our team has a strong focus on client service, patient care, and life-work balance; we are looking for an individual who shares our values.

Preference will be given to individuals with backgrounds in teaching and clinical training; experience and interest in interventional cardiology is a plus. Equipment includes two GE vivid E9s, one Philips Affiniti 50, a GE vivid IQ portable machine, TEE echo probe, and a Philips TC70 PageWriter ECG. We have in-house telemetric monitoring, ambulatory ECG systems (Holter and event monitoring; implantable loop recorder), petMAP and Doppler blood pressures systems. Angell has a fully-equipped cardiac catheterization lab including c-arm fluoroscopy with power injection for angiography. Fully staffed radiology department with digital radiography.

Staff Veterinarian- Internal Medicine

The Position

We are seeking a full time, board certified internist. Clinical responsibilities will include primary management of small animal Internal Medicine cases, didactic training of interns and residents, and performing endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures. Ultrasound experience preferred.

Internal Medicine Service

Our Internal Medicine service prides itself on being comprised of dedicated, collegiate, and compassionate team players. We collaborate closely with all of Angell’s specialty services including diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care medicine, surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, dentistry, acupuncture, anesthesiology, avian and exotic medicine, behavior, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, dermatology, and physical rehabilitation.

In addition to seeing appointments, our internists perform endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures, tracheal and urethral stenting, I-131 treatment, and manage continuous renal replacement therapy (Prismaflex CRRT). We are vitally involved in didactic training and leadership of residents and interns assigned to the service. We also pride ourselves on maintaining long-lasting and active relationships with other primary care hospitals in Boston and the surrounding area. Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for multi-tasking and working successfully in a team environment as the learning opportunities and professional challenges provided by our case-load are second to none.

Staff Veterinarian- Oncologist

The Position

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible veterinary medical oncologist. The qualified individual will be responsible for receiving patients with problems limited to the specialty of medical oncology, participation in mentorship and training of the medicine residents and interns, providing consultations to the Angell veterinary staff and acting as a resource to our referral community.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must have a DVM or equivalent and ACVIM (oncology) board certification. Board eligible candidates or those having completed an ACVIM (oncology) residency will be considered.

Staff Veterinarian- Primary Care/Urgent Care

The Position

We are seeking an internship-trained veterinarian who is excited about practicing primary care and urgent care nestled among every specialist imaginable. Your focus would be on what is best for the patient and client, and is “medicine-centric”. This position does not include surgical or dental practice. The schedule would be comprised of 50% scheduled primary care appointments and 50% scheduled or walk-in urgent care appointments. Urgent care cases can typically be managed on an outpatient basis. The ideal candidate is compassionate, energetic, has a sense of humor and enjoys collaborating with an intelligent, talented, and loyal MSPCA-Angell staff.

Requirements

Qualified applicants must have a DVM and have completed a rotating, one-year internship. In addition, experience in both emergency and primary care settings preferred.

Staff Veterinarian- Radiologist

The Position

The MSPCA-Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA is seeking applicants for a newly created full-time (40 hours a week) position and part time position in our diagnostic imaging service. If you are a veterinary radiologist looking for a full-time position, come join our busy and growing Angell team.

Our radiology department at Angell Boston features two digital radiography suites using a Del Medical DR system, a newly installed (summer 2019) 80 slice Canon Aquilion Lightning CT, an MR suite with a 1.5T GE Optima MR360 Advance magnet, a nuclear scintigraphy suite, a digital fluoroscopy suite with a mobile GE 9900 C-Arm, one Canon Aplio i700 ultrasound, and one Toshiba Aplio 300 ultrasound. The radiology service is supported by approximately 15 full time dedicated imaging technicians/assistants.

Our Boston facility and resources

Our doctors practice in an ~ 86,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital containing a critical care unit, blood bank, multiple specialty rooms, seven surgical suites, full service clinical laboratory, microbiology service, necropsy suite, histopathology laboratory for on-site biopsy evaluation. Angell’s Diagnostic Imaging Center has an 80-slice Canon Aquilon Lightning CT scanner, and an MRI 1.5 T unit with a C-Arm for fluoroscopic imaging.
