Horses Helping Horses, Fall Beach Ride FAQs

Date: Saturday, October 19th

Important times to know: The parking lot gate opens at 8:00 am, our event check-in opens at 8:30 and folks can ride out as early as 9:00.   Lunch will be served beginning around 11:00 and until 12:30.  All horses must be off the beach 1 hour before high tide; high tide is at 3:29pm.

Location:  Crane Beach is a highly sought after destination for riding along the beach owing to its wide, expansive, flat beach, ideal footing and stunning vistas.  This location is generally only available to members of the Trustees of the Reservation, but through a partnership with the Trustees, has been opened up to our guests for our special day.  In short, if you’ve ever wanted to ride on the beach, this is the place to do it!

Crane Beach is located at Argilla Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.  The best GPS landmark to use for this is the Crane Estate, which you’ll pass on your left as you drive east on Argilla Road, just before arriving at the beach.

Parking: Parking is limited at the site and we therefore limit the gate to 100 trailers and do require advance registration.  Non-registered spectators in separate vehicles are more than welcome, but their parking is self-paid.  Parking for vehicles or trailers of registered guests is paid for by the MSPCA and vehicles will be checked in by our staff at the gate.  Carpooling is encouraged and appreciated to help keep costs down and space available!

Registration:  Advance registration is required.  Folks can register individually or form a team and ride as a group!  Included with your $30 registration fee is a delicious, hearty vegetarian pasta lunch from our good friends at Borrelli’s Italian Deli in Methuen, a goodie bag (for the first 100 registrants) and a 2019, artist designed Horses Helping Horses Fall Beach Ride t-shirt.  Plus a really beautiful ride for an amazing cause!

Fundraising:  In order to make this fundraiser a success for our needy horses, farm animals and programs, we do require fundraising of at least an additional $70 from each participant (for a total of $100 including the registration fee).  Our animals rely on funds raised at this event to help fund their needs as we work to rehabilitate and rehome them – thank you for being an important part of how we help them start new lives and how we make our programs successful!

Every registered participant will be able to fundraise online through our event webpage.  Easy, pre-written fundraising emails are already pre-loaded and waiting to be used . . . you just add your contacts and a great story about why you’re riding!  You can even steal photos and stories about our animals from our social media pages if you like.  We’re here to help make fundraising easy and fun!

Prizes: Raise additional funds and you could win one of our top fundraiser prizes!   We’ll have something fantastic for our top 3 individual fundraisers as well as ribbons for our top teams.

Dogs:  Leashed, friendly, healthy dogs are very much welcome to attend!  If you’re planning to bring your pooch along, please make sure to familiarize yourself with Crane Beach’s rules for dogs first.

Safety:  All riders are required to wear a helmet through the duration of their ride.  Proof of negative coggins is required at check in.  We want everyone to be safe so we can make sure that this is a fun, enjoyable event for all!
