MSPCA Boston Bilingual (English/Spanish) Communication Volunteer

Description:

To provide better service to our full range of clients, we are in need of communications volunteers who are bilingual in Spanish and English. Volunteers will be utilized for shelter or clinic communications, based on our needs during the timeframe you are available.

This is an opportunity for people who are excited to engage with the public. Communications volunteers should have an attention to detail, strong customer service skills, be adaptable to the changing needs of the adoption center, and be excited to be a representative of the MSPCA and our programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Answering live phone calls and checking voicemails
  • Writing messages for staff
  • Responding to email inquiries
  • Collaborating with staff members to represent our programs
  • Online-based administrative work for our Spay/Neuter programs
  • Collaborating with staff members to represent our programs and provide information to clients on a variety of topics

Qualities/Skills:

  • Good customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly legible handwriting
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach
  • Ability to work independently and with other volunteers or staff
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet on a desktop computer

Requirements:

  • Attendance of a video orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Mentor training with staff or a volunteer at the adoption center

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum of one shift per week on a set day and time.
  • Available shifts: Variable weekday and weekend shifts from 8am-4pm. Shifts are typically 2 hours
