MSPCA-Cape Cod Animal Care and Adoption Center Comes to Katie’s Rescue
Centerville, Mass., Aug. 30, 2019 – It’s a bright future ahead for 12-year-old Cocker Spaniel named “Katie,” who was surrendered to the MSPCA-Cape Cod in Centerville, Mass. on Aug. 21 after her previous owner fell seriously ill and could no longer care for her.
Katie was made miserable the heavy mats that wore her down and even affected her gait.
“She was in really rough shape when we got her,” said Mary Sarah Fairweather, director of the MSPCA-Cape Cod adoption center.
“This isn’t a case of animal abuse; this is just a dog whose own health declined in lockstep with that of her owner—and now that she’s looking and feeling so much better, we’re going to find her the very best home.”
Sweet, Social and Spunky
Despite her challenges, Katie’s warm and social personality has emerged now that she is feeling better. “She’s already a ‘fan favorite’ at the adoption center because all she wants is to spend time adoring the staff and volunteers who are taking care of her,” said Fairweather.
“We know she’s going to make an excellent companion for the right adopter.”
Perfect Dog for Any Home
Now that Katie’s personality has emerged, Fairweather and her staff have determined that she would do well in just about any kind of home—whether comprised of a single individual or a family. “She seems to love other dogs and all people, old and young, so we expect to be able to place her very shortly,” said Fairweather.
