Meet Polly Pocket

Polly Pocket loves life! Polly lives with two of her friends, Slinky and Betty Spaghetty and while they can be adopted separately, they would love to go home together.

Their favorite part of the day is “lettuce o’clock” which happens everyday in the afternoon when their internal clocks remind them that lettuce is coming and they start to squeak up a storm to remind all around that they are ready for some fresh greens. They get even more excited when they get carrots which is their favorite treat. As soon as the food is in their pen, they start grabbing food and hiding it around and stealing it back and forth from each other, all in good fun. After “lettuce o’clock” these girls slow down a bit (but only for a bit) to catch some snooze time while sleeping in the silliest of positions. Impossible to be caught on camera but adorable to watch! After a quick shut eye, they are all zoomed up for their favorite game which is a combination of the zoomies, hide and seek, and tag. This consists of them running crazy circles through the pen, hiding from each other in their hideouts, finding each other and giving a gentle nudge to let the other know it is their turn to chase. The best part of the game is that the squeaky happy squeals go on the entire time demonstrating just how much they love to play.

Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

If you’re interested in adopting, please come by the Cape shelter during open hours, Tuesday through Sunday from 1 – 4PM!
