Meet Bodhi, the charming 9-year-old pit bull with a heart of gold and a unique sense of style (thanks to his skin issues he is a trendsetter, really). Bodhi is seeking someone who understands the importance of personal space (because sometimes a dog just needs a little me time, you know?) and can give him the time he needs to adjust.
Bodhi could potentially live with older kids who can give him the respect he deserves (and maybe a treat or two). Bodhi could potentially live with a well-matched dog or a dog-savvy cat.
Interested in adopting a dog? Come by Tuesday-Sunday from 1-5pm during our open hours!
Spirit cats are very shy with people, and live in your home but are rarely seen – hence their name. They are cats who coexist in your home, and sometimes may grant you the opportunity to touch them – or they may not. Despite being shy with people, spirit cats are usually great with other cats! They are used to living with many cats, and can make excellent companions for cats in your home. It’s not uncommon for a spirit cat to get used to one or two people over time, and those people will be allowed to touch them and they may even choose to hang out near you or sleep on your bed at night. They are a great choice for people with a quiet household, who want to make a difference for an individual cat. Patience and understanding are the best tools when welcoming a spirit cat into your home. It’s important to know that spirit cats won’t magically turn into a normal acting cat – what you see is what you get for a long time, maybe always.
They are a fine choice for situations where you don’t have a lot of time to devote to a pet as they don’t require a lot of attention from humans. They are not a good choice for a busy home, including those with small children.

More about Nalah:
I am a playful, chatty, affectionate, and sweet lady who loves to sunbathe and look out windows.
I can be sensitive to loud noises, and will do best ion a quiet, low-traffic home. I will need a slow transition into my new home starting in a small, quiet space and gradually be given access to more of the home as I settle in and become comfortable in my new surroundings.
My adopter should have a relationship with a fear-free vet, since I have a low tolerance for handling/vet restraint, and a sedative may be needed for my vet visits.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Thursday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: No thanks
Dogs: No thanks
Kids: Possibly, able to read cat-body language
Meet Hetty! We do not know much about her origins, as she was found free roaming a beach with a few other bunny friends, having a bunny beach party. While her past is a mystery, she is looking forward to a bright and happy future with her sister Flower, in a new forever home. Although she is still warming up to the shelter life, Hetty seems to enjoy exploring her space during her out time, and has been curious about all the new people she is meeting. She can’t wait to have a space of her own where she and her sister can spend their time eating the best vegetables, and snuggling together.
If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed.
*Before coming to the adoption center, we ask that you have a housing unit ready, in case you end up finding an animal you’d like to adopt. We adopt our rabbits to live indoors only and in exercise pens instead of cages. Rabbits need a minimum 8 sqft of space enclosed by an exercise pen; plus access to an additional 24 sqft of space outside of their enclosure to exercise and play in for a minimum of 4 hours daily with supervision.

Betty Spaghetty loves life! Betty lives with two of her friends, Slinky and Polly Pocket and while they can be adopted separately, they would love to go home together.
Their favorite part of the day is “lettuce o’clock” which happens everyday in the afternoon when their internal clocks remind them that lettuce is coming and they start to squeak up a storm to remind all around that they are ready for some fresh greens. They get even more excited when they get carrots which is their favorite treat. As soon as the food is in their pen, they start grabbing food and hiding it around and stealing it back and forth from each other, all in good fun. After “lettuce o’clock” these girls slow down a bit (but only for a bit) to catch some snooze time while sleeping in the silliest of positions. Impossible to be caught on camera but adorable to watch! After a quick shut eye, they are all zoomed up for their favorite game which is a combination of the zoomies, hide and seek, and tag. This consists of them running crazy circles through the pen, hiding from each other in their hideouts, finding each other and giving a gentle nudge to let the other know it is their turn to chase. The best part of the game is that the squeaky happy squeals go on the entire time demonstrating just how much they love to play.
Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!
If you’re interested in adopting, please come by the Cape shelter during open hours, Tuesday through Sunday from 1 – 5PM!
Meet Baby – She is looking for a forever home with her friend Norman! She can be found perching with Norman, or sharing a meal together at the bird seed bowl. At times you can hear her cooing softly, which Norman seems to enjoy and hopefully you will too.

If you haven’t picked out an enclosure yet, we’d love to help! The Association of Avian Veterinarians has a chart on the minimum cage dimensions that are acceptable for housing the birds we commonly see in our adoption center. As a rule of thumb, get the largest cage you can provide—the bigger the better!
A few important recommendations
SIZE: Wire or mesh cages are preferred that are at least 1.5 to 2 times the wingspan of the bird in all directions. When a bird spreads both wings out, there should be enough room so the wings and tail are not touching any cage bars including top or bottom. The bird should be able to easily spin around on a perch without the tail hitting any cage bars including top/bottom of the cage. The cage should be big enough that the bird can fly with ease from the bottom of the cage to the top without the wings touching any cage bars or any other obstacles (like toys).
BAR SPACING: Make sure the spacing of the bars is small enough that your bird cannot escape! Select a finger or fingers that appear to be the same thickness as the bird’s wing. When checking bar spacing, if your finger or fingers (thickness) fits between the cage bar spacing, then the cage bar spacing is not proper for that bird (a bird could get harmed).
We suggest covering wire mesh platforms or bottoms with a layer of newspaper or other solid surface as exposed wire can cause abrasions to feet, as well as possibly catch and break toes and tails
Companion Birds should receive at least a half hour to an hour of interaction time with their human family; such as training, playing, and/or socially interacting.

Meet Loki! Sharing a name with the Norse Tricker god, Loki certainly lives up to his mischievous namesake! This handsome fellow has very strong feelings about his space and his items. He is looking for a rabbit experienced home, where his new family can give him the appropriate space he needs, and provide lots of enrichment to keep him busy throughout the day.

More about Sky:
I can be affectionate once I warm up: I was a fabulous lap cat with my previous owner, who can no longer care for me. I love to play! Do not let my age fool you, I can still get the zoomies and I enjoy wand toys. I have good litter box manners.
I am looking for a VERY quiet, low-traffic home with cat-savvy adopters with lots of patience! I was extremely affectionate with my previous owner and would lay on her lap for hours, but I have always been nervous with other people. I am not a very social cat, and it will take a long time to build a relationship with my new family. Given the time and option to do so at my own pace, I will make someone a great low-maintenance companion!
It is recommended that my adopter work with a fear-free vet to help come up with a handling plan that will reduce stress for everyone, and keep everyone safe, since I required sedation for vet care here in the shelter.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from noon – 4:30pm, with no appointment needed to meet available cats.
Compatibility:
Cats: Potentially, but no history. Would do best with a cat who has successfully lived with other cats, with a VERY slow introduction.
Kids: Teens and older. I am not going to be amenable to kids who push interaction with me when I am communicating that I am uncomfortable.
