Pet insurance is a useful tool that we recommend for all of our clients and patients! We understand that it can be difficult to navigate how to use your pet insurance policy. Usually, you have to pay the vet practice up front and submit the final invoice with the relevant medical record for reimbursement from the insurance company. There are some insurance companies that are able to pay the vet directly. Below is a list of insurance companies with helpful links to assist you with claim submission!
Invoices are provided by the Front Desk at check-out and medical records can be obtained by contacting medrec@mspca.org.
Companies with a direct-to-vet payment option
IMPORTANT: Regardless of whether or not your insurance company is able, Angell is not able to accept direct payment for outpatient visits. Direct payments are only accepted for inpatient visits.
Doggo
- Inpatient – We can only accept direct payments from ASPCA on a case-by-case basis and only if you are unable to pay the deposit/invoice up front. A pre-approval from the insurance company is required. For more information, please contact Doggo at 1-877-343-6271. Once you have a pre-approval, please send it to insurancecoordinator@mspca.org.
- Outpatient – Claims can be submitted online by logging into the client portal: https://home.trydoggo.com/portal/#/login
Healthy Paws
- Inpatient – We can only accept direct payments from Healthy Paws on a case-by-case basis and only if you are unable to pay the deposit/invoice up front. Healthy Paws requires you—the client—to request direct payment before treatment takes place. You can start the process by calling Healthy Paws at (855) 898-8991. An itemized estimate is required. Once you have pre-approval from Healthy Paws, please send it to insurancecoordinator@mspca.org.
Pets Best
- Inpatient – We can only accept direct payments from Pets Best on a case-by-case basis and only if you are unable to pay the deposit/invoice up front. Pets Best does not provide pre-approval services, so it is up to the treating veterinarian whether or not they are comfortable accepting direct pay from Pets Best. Fill out the veterinary reimbursement form located at https://www.petsbest.com/vet-direct-pay and send it to insurancecoordinator@mspca.org.
Pumpkin

- Inpatient – We can accept direct payments from Pumpkin for all inpatient visits where the high end of the estimate is $1,000 or more. Our insurance coordinator will submit the estimate and the claim for you. Please reach out to insurancecoordinator@mspca.org to get started. Please include your policy number. Unless it is an emergency visit, this process must be started prior to treatment. If you would prefer to pay up front and be reimbursed, please refer to the outpatient section below.
Spot
- Inpatient – We can only accept direct payments from ASPCA on a case-by-case basis and only if you are unable to pay the deposit/invoice up front. A pre-approval from the insurance company is required. For more information, please contact Spot at 1-800-905-1595. Once you have a pre-approval, please send it to insurancecoordinator@mspca.org.

All claims – Policies obtained through GEICO are administered either by Embrace or Trupanion.
