**UPCOMING SEMINAR: Integrating Kids and Dogs: Finding the balance between safety and playtime with Melissa McCue McGrath, CPDT-KA
Integrating Kids and Dogs: Finding the balance between safety and playtime
Date: Sunday 7/14 from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Cost: $25/ per person (NO OUTSIDE DOGS PLEASE)
Description: In this 90-minute presentation, we will explore ways in which adults can create better relationships between kids and dogs. We will look at body language in dogs and how kids can influence our dog’s behavior for the better, or worse. We will be teaching kids how to evaluate dog body language to tell if it is a dog they want to interact with or not. Most importantly, we will also examine ways that kids can play with dogs and take care of pets in the home (looking at what kids can help with given different age groups and maturity levels!)
This seminar is geared for parents and guardians who live with kids and dogs, or professionals who are looking for new ideas to integrate into their training program.
Kids over the age of 10 are welcome to come, ask questions, and learn techniques with two dogs we will be providing. We will have trainers on hand to help supervise interactions appropriately. There will be some demonstrations with dogs so please leave your dog at home.
“Today was the last day of the Canine Good Citizen class at MSPCA in Methuen. The test will be next Sunday. Melissa and Danielle were amazing as an Instructors. They are very kind and made everyone feel so welcome. Molly and I are going to miss them and our other [dog] friends. For me, taking the classes is not about bringing a certificate home in the end, but is the strong connection and chemistry you create between you and your dog and how much you learned from each other. I am so proud of Molly. In my eyes she’s a winner with or without the certificate. Molly and Bella are a wonderful part of my life and I am so lucky to be rescued by them.”
