99 Farm Birds Among 115 Animals Found in Unsanitary Conditions
BOSTON, Sept. 23, 2025 – More than 100 animals are now being cared for at MSPCA-Angell shelters after MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement executed a warrant as part of an animal cruelty investigation to remove them from a Plympton property on September 23.
The majority of the animals are farm birds, including chickens, turkeys, geese, quails, ducks and one guinea hen. Two dogs, two cats, five rabbits, two ferrets, and five goats were also seized.
“We had probable cause to believe that animals on this property were being kept in violation of Massachusetts Animal Cruelty Laws,” explained MSPCA-Angell Law Enforcement Director, Chris Schindler. “When we got there, we saw that they were living in unsanitary conditions with inadequate access to food and water.”
“We were granted a warrant to remove them, which we executed today [September 23] with assistance from Plympton Police.”
The majority of the animals were brought to MSPCA-Angell at Nevins Farm in Methuen. The dogs and two of the rabbits were brought to the MSPCA-Angell Cape Cod Adoption Center in Centerville.
“Because the animals were seized as part of the warrant, they’ll be held pending the outcome of the investigation,” Schindler elaborated. “They aren’t available for adoption.”
“But for however long they’re with us, we’ll make sure they get the best possible care they can.”
No further information is available on the investigation at this time. The MSPCA-Angell will release information as it becomes available.
