MSPCA Boston Operations Assistant Volunteer

Operations Assistant Volunteer (Boston)

Description:

This is an opportunity for individuals to support our programs and staff by assisting with daily operations. Operations Assistant volunteers should have an attention to detail, work well within a team, be capable of completing inventory and other projects independently, and be adaptable to the changing needs of the adoption center and staff. Volunteers should also be comfortable and prepared to do a fair amount of physical labor, as much of this shift involves moving/lifting boxes and unpacking supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Unload pallets of dog/cat food to correct storage locations
  • Inventory and rotation of food, leashes/collars, and other shelter items
  • Opening and correctly stocking deliveries
  • Stocking and price ticketing retail items
  • Miscellaneous administrative tasks e.g. photocopying, putting together adoption handouts
  • Miscellaneous projects as requested by the Shelter Operations and Community Outreach team

 

Qualities/Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and with other volunteers and staff
  • Exceptional computer literacy
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs repeatedly, bend, kneel, stoop, and generally remain active for the entirety of the three-hour shift

Requirements:

  • Attendance at orientation and on-the-job training

Time Commitment:

  • Weekly, recurring shift for a minimum of 6 consecutive months
  • Tuesdays 9am-12pm
