Thank you for your interest in adopting from the MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter!

We are located at 347 Highland Ave. Salem, MA 01970.  We have open adoption hours seven days a week from 11:30am-5pm. For those hoping to adopt same day, please note that paperwork needs to be finalized before 4:30pm so please plan your arrival accordingly. Our doors will be open during these times so please come visit us and meet our adoptable animals! Prior to arriving, we ask that you fill out our matchmaking questionnaire to give our staff a sense of what kind of companion you are looking for. If you are unable to fill out the form prior to your arrival, you can fill it out in person at our shelter.

Please visit our how to adopt page if you’d like more information on our adoption process, fees and requirements.

Dog Adoptions: in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open for you to walk through when you visit. Interested adopters will work with staff and volunteers to determine which dog(s) they’re interested in – and if a match is identified, potential adopters will be able to meet the dog outside of its kennel. Cat areas will remain open to walk through.

We hope to see you soon!
