The MSPCA-Angell is a private, non-profit organization headquartered in Boston with a network of satellite hospitals and adoption centers. Angell clinicians welcome over 100,000 patient visits per year.
With a focus on client service, Angell’s compassionate, deeply-experienced doctors regularly collaborate to provide patients with comprehensive care.
Founded shortly after the Civil War, the MSPCA-Angell was one of the first humane organizations in America. Today, we continue to rescue, shelter, heal, and advocate for animals. We even have our own Law Enforcement team! True to our mission, our Angell at Essex clinic in Danvers serves low-income clients and provides training for high school students interested in veterinary careers.
Our Facility
Among Angell’s diagnostic tools are an updated 84-slice Canon CT scanner, a
1.5 Tesla MRI, and three state-of-the-artechocardiography machines.
The oncology service has a state-of-the-art chemotherapy room and a linear accelerator that performs stereotactic radiosurgery. Additionally, Angell’s I-131 treatment area provides effective radioactive iodine therapy for hyperthyroid cats.
Treatment Areas
Our modern surgery, dentistry, and endoscopy suites enable our specialists to deliver high-quality care.
Among Angell’s multiple specialty services are our 24/7 Critical Care Units in Waltham and Boston – including Boston’s Supportive Care and Intensive Care Units which completed construction and opened in 2022. The ICU is equipped with advanced monitoring devices and specially-constructed oxygen cages for our most critical patients. Advanced techniques such as blood component therapy, peritoneal dialysis, and ventilator
therapy are also available.
Our specialty services are supported by our full in-house pathology laboratory, including histopathology for onsite biopsy evaluation. Two fully-equipped clinics adjoin the exam rooms, and our pharmacy (including a non-sterile compounding room) is staffed by three pharmacists.
Support
Angell has a certified veterinary acupuncturist on staff as well as a licensed veterinary social worker who provides supportive services to clients and employees and meets specifically with Angell’s associate veterinarians monthly.
A team of client care coordinators facilitate client communication, discharges, drop-offs, and estimates and two of them are specifically assigned to help the associate veterinarians with daily tasks.
Angell’s break rooms and relaxation room reflect our commitment to the team, providing comfortable places to recharge.
Continuing Education
Opportunities for continuing education include daily patient rounds, daily diagnostic imaging rounds, didactic sessions, and a weekly lecture series.
