Adoption Center Greeter – Methuen

Description:

This is an opportunity for people who are excited to engage with the public. Adoption Center Greeter volunteers should have strong customer service skills, be adaptable to the changing needs of the adoption center, and be excited to be a representative of the MSPCA and our programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting Methuen adoption center visitors and answering basic questions.
  • Directing visitors based on their reason for coming to the shelter. (Adoption appointment, surrender appointment, just looking, etc.)
  • Collaborating with staff members to represent our programs.
  • Bringing donations into the building to keep our entrance clear.

 

Qualities/Skills:

  • Good customer service skills.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work independently and with other volunteers.
  • Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus!
  • This shift requires a combination of standing and walking for the duration of the shift.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs. (Needed for bringing in donations.) Exceptions may be made if a requirement for accommodation in this aspect is disclosed on your application.
  • Proficiency in using a computer without assistance, and learning new programs. All volunteers digitally log hours and use an online scheduling function.

 

Requirements:

  • Attendance at a virtual orientation.
  • On-the-job training.

 

Time Commitment:

  • A weekly 3 hour shift on a set day, from 12pm-3pm.
  • Available shift is Friday 12pm-3pm. Please ensure this matches your availability before applying.
  • We are presently taking backup applications only, due to a pending application for the last spot.
  • Minimum of 3 month commitment to a weekly shift, after onboarding. (Please allow up to a month for onboarding.)
