Adoption Center Greeter – Methuen

Description:

This is an opportunity for people who are excited to engage with the public. Adoption Center Greeter volunteers should have strong customer service skills, be adaptable to the changing needs of the adoption center, and be excited to be a representative of the MSPCA and our programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting Methuen adoption center visitors and answering basic questions.
  • Directing visitors based on their reason for coming to the shelter. (Adoption appointment, surrender appointment, just looking, etc.)
  • Bringing donations into the building to keep our entrance clear.

 

Qualities/Skills:

  • Good customer service skills.
  • A friendly demeanor, and comfort speaking with strangers.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work independently and with other volunteers.
  • Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus!
  • This shift requires a combination of standing and walking for the duration of the shift.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs. (For bringing in donations.) For this role only, an exception to the lifting requirement can be made if a requirement for accommodation in this aspect is disclosed on your application.
  • Proficiency in using a computer without assistance, and learning new programs. All volunteers digitally log hours and use an online scheduling function.

 

Requirements:

  • Attendance at a virtual orientation.
  • On-the-job training.

 

Time Commitment:

  • A weekly shift on a set day and time. Please ensure one or more available shifts match your availability before applying.
  • Available shifts are Tuesday 12pm-2pm, Tuesday 2pm-4:30pm, Wednesday 2pm-4:30pm, Friday 2pm-4:30pm, Saturday 12pm-2pm, and Sunday 12pm-2pm.
  • Minimum of 3 month commitment to a weekly shift, after onboarding. (Please allow up to a month for onboarding.)
