Northeast Animal Shelter Food Attendant and Shelter Team (FAST) Volunteer

Food Attendant & Shelter Team (FAST) Volunteer

Position Summary

Food Attendant & Shelter Team (FAST) volunteers assist staff in keeping the animals fed and the shelter clean, sanitized, and organized. These volunteers love the idea of nurturing our animals through food while the thought of laundry also excites them and cleaning dirty dishes may be their forte. FAST volunteers help keep the shelter running efficiently and allow for the animal care team to focus on more animal oriented tasks to help them get adopted… well, fast!

Their primary duty will be food prep, either breakfast or dinner, for the animal population at our shelter. Other regular responsibilities include doing laundry, cleaning dishes, wiping down high-use surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, prepping enrichment items, and taking out trash.

Volunteers will be given training and resources to stay up to date with considerate approaches protocol when working in the proximity of animals. It is important to maintain consistency and routine as much as possible, therefore the volunteer will be expected to follow protocol and the guidance of staff closely.
