Description:
Assist with closing down tasks in our busy surgery clinic. You’ll learn to:
- Sterilize endotracheal tubes and surgical instruments
- Wash, dry, fold laundry, surgical towels and drapes
- Use an autoclave to sterilize surgical instruments, towels and drapes
- Clean kennels thoroughly for disease control purposes and set them up for the next patient.
- Restock syringes and other miscellaneous items needed for surgical day
Responsibilities:
- Sterilization of endotracheal tubes and surgical instruments
- Wash and fold laundry and surgery towels
- Run the autoclave
- Sanitize kennels after animals have gone home
- Various tasks depending on the day
- Be able to work by yourself
Qualities/Skills:
- Good open communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- Able to meet the physical demands of this role, which require variable amounts of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Able to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
- As this role requires frequent verbal and written communication, applicants must be highly proficient in English.
- Proficiency in using a computer without assistance, and learning new programs. All volunteers digitally log hours and use an online scheduling function.
Requirements:
- A commitment of at least six months
- A weekly shift on a set day and time
- Attendance at an orientation and on-the-job training
- Applicants must be 18 or older
Available Shifts:
- Weekends 7:30am-9:00am
