MSPCA Boston Community Clinic Volunteer Veterinarian

Description:

Our fast-paced community clinic is looking for volunteer assistance from veterinarians currently licensed to practice in Massachusetts, with high volume spay/neuter experience. Volunteer Veterinarians most often assist by performing spay/neuter procedures, but we also welcome those with a specialized skillset (Exotics, dermatology, etc.)

Due to limited staffing, we are unable to provide training on spay/neuter surgeries; we are looking for veterinarians who already have established surgical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform spay/neuter surgeries.
  • Additional surgeries as determined by your skillset and the animals scheduled on your volunteer day.
  • Complete necessary documentation regarding procedures.
  • Communication with shelter staff or owner of an animal in regard to surgery performed.

Qualities/Skills:

  • High volume spay/neuter clinic experience
  • Ability to work well in a small, busy area.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • As this role requires frequent verbal and written communication, applicants must be fluent in English.

Requirements:

  • Copy of Massachusetts veterinary license
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
  • Resume – please include your average time to complete dog and cat spay/neuter surgery in your application.
  • The prior three items can be uploaded during the application process or emailed to bostonvolunteer@mspca.org.

Time Commitment:

  • One full day a month or more preferred. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, except holidays.
  • Six month commitment preferred – longer commitments welcome!
