MSPCA Cape Cod Communications Volunteer

Description:

This is an opportunity for people who are excited to engage with the public. Communications volunteers should have an attention to detail, strong customer service skills, be adaptable to the changing needs of the adoption center, and be excited to be a representative of the MSPCA and our programs. Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Answering live phone calls and answering questions from the public on a variety of topics
  • Tracking voicemails on a spreadsheet and responding to unanswered voicemails
  • Collaborating with staff members to represent our programs and provide information to clients on a variety of topics

Qualities/Skills:

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

  • Excellent customer service skills – Experience with answering phones in a professional setting is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach to communicating with the public
  • Ability to work independently and with other volunteers and staff
  • Computer proficiency – ability to use the internet and online spreadsheets

Requirements:

  • Commitment of at least six months
  • Weekly 3 to 4 hour shift on same day each week or at least two shifts per month
  • Attendance of an orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Training with staff and a volunteer at the adoption center

Available shifts:

  • Tuesdays: 1 – 5PM
  • Wednesdays: 1 – 5PM
  • Fridays: 1 – 5PM
  • Saturdays: 1 – 5PM
