Northeast Photography and Media Volunteer

Program Description:

Quality photos of adoptable animals and engaging biographies make great impressions for interested adopters and gets animals into their next homes quickly. This role is for individuals who have a keen eye for a great photo and are excited to impact the lives of shelter animals through an excellent photo and witty bio.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take high quality photos with their smart phone or camera of cats, small animals, and dogs. Dogs will be handled by a staff member or dog walking volunteer while the photo volunteer is photographing.
  • Upload photos to our animal database
  • Write interesting and engaging biographies for the animals available for adoption (your application responses should reflect this!)

 

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to receive feedback to improve the quality of the photos taken
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Computer proficient and willingness to learn new programs
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Ability to remain open-minded and understanding of a decision for euthanasia that consider the animal’s physical and emotional well-being and the safety of the community
  • Physically able to bend, reach, kneel, squat for long periods while photographing

 

Other:

  • Attendance of a volunteer orientation and training
  • Completion of Fear Free Shelter online training after approval into the Volunteer Program
  • Attach sample pet photos in your application

 

Time Commitment:

  • Six month commitment
  • Attendance of a weekly shift
