Defendant Held Without Bail Following April 1 Dangerousness Hearing
BOSTON, April 2, 2025 – The MSPCA-Angell is readying a roughly eight-month-old Australian Cattle dog for adoption following her surrender on April 1, the organization announced today. The dog, named “Foxy”, was initially seized March 25 from a man charged with animal cruelty related to the discovery by Sturbridge Police and MSPCA Law Enforcement of nearly 100 dead animals at a Sturbridge property.
Andrew Sebastiano was held without bail after being found dangerous by a judge during an April 1 hearing. He is due back in Dudley District Court on April 23.
“We commend the judge on his decision to continue holding this person without bail,” said MSPCA Law Enforcement Director, Chris Schindler. “Animal cruelty should be a factor in determining the risks an individual poses to the community, and this decision reflects that.”
“Our Advocacy team worked hard to add animal crimes to the list of offenses in the PAWS II Act that require a hearing to determine whether someone is dangerous, and we’re grateful to see those efforts pay off in this case.”
“Now, we’re working to get Foxy ready to find her new home, but it will take a bit of time,” added Schindler.
Foxy’s Adoption Timeline
The MSPCA-Angell expects Foxy to be available for adoption at its Nevins Farm Adoption Center sometime the week of April 7.
“Foxy hasn’t been in our care for very long, so we’re still getting to know her, but she’s doing really well,” Schindler said. “She’ll need a spay surgery and to work with our behavior team a bit before she’ll be ready for a new family.”
