We’d like to introduce a very special cat named Mia. She is a 2 year old cat, and has a discordant case of FeLV, or Feline Leukemia Virus which may shorten her lifespan, and we are hoping to find her a loving indoor-only home where she can live out her life. Despite her diagnosis, she is social and affectionate with those she knows. Mia would need to be the only cat in the household. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.

Simba is a 1 year old poodle pup ready to add a little dynamo to your life! This sweet guy loves to romp around, proudly show off his toys, and then settle in for some affectionate snuggles. As a young dog who’s been through quite a few transitions in the past few months, Simba is ready to start his next chapter with a family who can give him the time and patience he needs to adjust to a new routine.
He is still learning about the world, and will need help on his training journey, including learning how to appropriately communicate when he is frustrated or overwhelmed, rather than to use his mouth.
Simba has enjoyed playing with other dogs at the shelter and may be a great match for a resident pup with a compatible play style. He has no history living with cats, but could do ok with a dog-savvy cat, and with full separation to start. To best set up Simba for success, please note that he is not a same-day adoption.
Simba is an eager learner, and is looking for a patient owner to help them master polite greetings, leash skills, and the art of relaxing at the end of the day. Training together will be a fun and rewarding journey!

Lovebirds can be lovely, cuddly, and curious but can pack a big personality into their small little body. Primarily native to Africa, lovebirds can range in size from about 5 – 6½” and can live up to 12-15 years with proper nutrition and care. These little birds can be a chatty bunch, singing and whistling throughout the day, but most commonly at dusk and dawn. They are not known for mimicking human speech but with patience and plenty of effort can be trained to perform other tricks. We recommend that lovebirds live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Lovebirds tend to thrive in pairs as their name implies.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each lovebird are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the lovebird you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Meet Warren! This handsome guy came in as a stray, so we don’t know much about him. He’s been a bit shy and reserved here thus far. Are you that person? He’s got his paws crossed!
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Warren. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Panther is a sweet guy who absolutely loves snuggles once he feels comfortable with his people. He can be a little shy when meeting new friends, but give him a bit of time and patience, and you’ll discover one of the sweetest companions you could ask for.
Panther would thrive with adopters who are happy to let him warm up at his own pace. He’s looking for a quieter home where he can feel safe and supported as he continues to build confidence.
This handsome boy has lots of energy and a zest for life! He loves to jump and show off his playful side, so he’d benefit from someone who can help him polish his manners and guide him through some of his quirky behaviors. If you’re ready to give this affectionate, high-energy sweetheart the patient and loving home he deserves, Panther might just be your new best friend. Come meet him today!

Meet Sailboat, a cat on the hunt for his new home! Sailboat lived in a bubble in his previous home, where he was living successfully with other cats but not getting a lot of socialization with people. Because of this, he would love to go home with adopters that are ready to meet him where he’s at, and let him set the pace of how quickly he adjusts! He might like to go home with another cat to help him adjust to his new home.
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Sailboat. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Meet Baloo! His favorite things are sniffy walks, cuddling and getting pets from familiar people, and treats. Baloo is a bit reserved at first, but is able to eventually warm up and is looking for a patient family who can give an adopted dog some time to decompress in the new home. Baloo loves to play and is full of energy, and would make a great companion for a hiker, runner, or just an admirer of the great outdoors. Baloo prefers the company of human friends to canine friends and wants to be your only dog, but would enjoy having dog friends to go on walks with. He has lived with cats before, but only briefly interacted with them, and we think he would live with a dog-savvy cat with complete separation to start!
Baloos first few weeks at home should be calm and predictable, with a small social circle and plenty of space to decompress. Hes looking for adopters who can read his body language, respect his need for space, and use positive reinforcement to help him build confidence.
If you think Baloo could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Nole and Pepper are a pair of curious birds who are looking to find a home together. They have not had the most socialization with people, which can lead to them being a bit nippy when hands get too close. Nole and Pepper enjoy watching tv and listening to music together. They have been in the same room with other birds, but haven’t lived in the same enclosure as other birds. This pretty pair is looking for a patient family who can help them settle in at their own pace.
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Nole. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Cady is a smart, shy, sweet girl who loves long walks with her favorite people! She is very food-motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement training. She has enjoyed spending time around other mellow dogs at the shelter, so we think she could do well with a canine sibling that is comfortable with a more calm friend, or she`d be happy being your one-and-only dog. Cady will do best in a low-traffic, quieter home environment without children.
Cady often starts off a little cautious, but give her time and a cozy spot to settle in and youll see her sweet and loving personality shine!
If you think Cady could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

Doves can be tamed but tend to be more “hands off” birds. They tend to vocalize throughout the day with a “coo”, dissimilar to the screeching or whistling of many other birds. Doves can be found around the world, and can live up to 10 years with proper nutrition and care. We recommend that doves live in pairs or groups whenever possible.
We recommend a cage that is at least 32”x23” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ?-¾” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of flat surfaces to perch on, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Unlike many other species of birds, doves are unable to climb up cage bars, and tend to move back and forth making a wider cage more appealing to them. Doves should be provided with regular opportunities for bathing, and unlike parrots require grit as part of their regular diet to aid in digestion.
The needs of each dove are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the dove you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Due to this she has been undersocialized with other humans, these types of cats will most likely need extra time to adjust to their new home and new family.
