Meet Morticia

Meet Morticia! This gentle soul recently arrived in our care, and we are still getting to know her. Morticia was unfortauntely diagnosed with Regressive FeLV. Even though Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is an untreatable disease, cats with FeLV live happy and comfortable lives and make wonderful companions!

Regressive FeLV means the cat is producing a immune response, preventing the virus from replicating in the body. Cats with Regressive FeLV are less likely to be shedding the virus, however, they should either live as single cats or in groups with other FeLV positive cats, as their status may change and they may become infectious to other cats during their lifetime. Cats with Regressive FeLV may become ill with diseases related to the virus, but they may also go on to eliminate the virus completely.

Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Morticia. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

You are welcome to enter our cat rooms during open hours. Staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you!
