Meet Coal
Coal is a smart, treat-motivated guy who loves learning, training, and connecting with his people. He enjoys gentle snuggles, food-based enrichment, and even silly moments. Once he feels comfortable, his playful, affectionate side really shines.
Coal is still adjusting to the world and can find new environments and situations stressful, so he’s looking for a patient adopter who will help him settle in with a calm, predictable routine. He’ll need time and space to decompress, along with positive reinforcement training to help him build confidence and good leash manners.
Because Coal can be uncomfortable with other dogs, he’ll need an adopter who is committed to managing his environment and helping him feel safe on walks and in the community. With structure, understanding, and consistency, Coal has all the potential to become a deeply loyal and rewarding companion. For now, we think coal should be the only dog in the home.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Coal. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.
