Bonnie is a sweet, senior lady who is looking for a home of her own. She loves to take leisurely walks and in true hound fashion, finding lots of good things to sniff. Bonnie came to us from a southern shelter so we don’t know much about her history, but she has been cute and curious since she came to us. Bonnie can be a little nervous with new people at first, but once she settles in she is an easygoing gal. She came to us with a small, low grade tumor that needed to be removed,so will need a good relationship with a vet to help keep her happy and healthy!

Guinea pigs can make wonderful pets! They are very social creatures which means that they generally need at least one companion! Of course guinea pigs should only be kept with other piggies of the same sex. A pair of guinea pigs needs at minimum 10.5 sq. feet of cage space, or roughly 30″ x 50″ with a solid bottom, but more room is always encouraged! Guinea pigs can be quite noisy which can be lovely as long as you are expecting it!

Nibbles is an adorable baby mouse who can be quite friendly although still skittish around people. He is currently alone, but will likely prefer living with another male mouse for companionship.
Mice are nocturnal, very acrobatic and talented adventures. They can even jump up to a foot and a half! Mice can be very skittish, but with patience and care can make wonderful companions. Mice can get along in same-sex groups but each is unique so we recommend being prepared to separate them if required. We prefer that mice, especially females, are housed with or nearby other mice as inter-species socialization can be vital to an animal’s happiness and mimicking their natural needs.
We recommend a 10 gallon or larger tank filled with about ¼” of paper bedding or other nesting material. Nesting material should be loose, light, easy to manipulate, and of course safe. Enclosures should be well ventilated but kept out of direct drafts, and should provide plenty of enclosed opaque shelters for the mice to retreat into as desired. Enclosures should provide lots of enrichment for the mice to meet their natural needs in the areas of chewing/gnawing, physical movement, resting/hiding, and nesting material or food to forage. A properly sized wheel or disc is a necessity for the mice to meet their exercise needs.
The needs of each mouse are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the mouse you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Viola lived with cats in her previous home, and might like to go home with a confident cat friend to help her learn the ropes!

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who brings joy and laughter to every day, Draco might be your perfect match!

When you mix a lab with hound, you end up with an intelligent playful dog with lots of energy. That is our girl Katie. She is sweet, smart and silly. Now Katie is looking for patient adopters who are excited about training using positive reinforcement. This girl is so smart and will do most anything for a piece of chicken. Good girl Katie needs to learn how to settle down on her own after she has romped around in the yard. We do not know if she has ever lived with another dog. Here at the shelter, she has successfully been able to go on leash walks with other dogs. She could possibly live with a cat using a slow introduction. And children who can practice petting consent might also work. While Katie may be a bit of work at first, she has such amazing potential to be a wonderful pet. Does she sound like the dog for you?
If you think Katie could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.
Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Through no fault of her own, Kyra is here at the shelter looking for a new family. This lovely girl is house trained and has lived well with kids in the past. Sweet Kyra hopes you love going on long sniffy walks just as much as she does. They are so much fun! Other than that, Kyras favorite things to do are play with her dog friends or snooze in the sun. We think that Kyra could possibly live with another dog or cat. This poor baby has been through several big transitions lately and is finding the shelter to be rather overwhelming. Right now, Kyra is worried about meeting new people. She is hoping her new adopters will keep things small and safe as she settles in. Would you like to meet this very sweet girl? She will be waiting for you!
If you think Kyra could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

Meet Turkey! Turkey came to us as an older stray kitten who is not very interested in being around people. Instead Turkey is looking to be placed as a barn cat to help control rodent population and provide a level of indepenence and adventure that best fits Turkey’s socialability. Due to a lack of history on Turkey we do not know how she would do around dogs, but has done well with some other barn cats here in the shelter. She can do okay around kids that will respect her space, but presently does not want to be pet or picked up.
If you think Turkey could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

Miami is ready to find a new home of their own! We’re not sure what these pups are mixed with, but we think they will likely be on the larger side. They are all still learning the ropes and will need a patient family to teach them all the doggie basics like walking on a leash and housetraining. They could likely go to a home with another dog who wants an annoying younger sibling to be a role model too. These puppies have been through lots of transitions in their short lives and are looking for a home that can help them figure out the world in a safe and fun way!

If you’ve always wanted backyard goats, look no further! Dustin and Daphne are two delightful alpine cross goats who are eagerly awaiting their next home.
Goats are herd animals and need the company of other goats to be healthy and happy. We are looking for adopters who can take at least a pair of goats or have an existing herd at home that they’d like to expand.
They will require a fenced in area with appropriate shelter for inclement weather. Since goats are considered livestock, you will need to check with your town to make sure they are allowed in your area. We’re here to support you and answer whatever questions you may have, so please reach out if you think you could offer a loving home to some of these wonderful goats!
