Meet Fizzlepop! This handsome young man has been waiting patiently at the shelter for his perfect adopter to come along. Fizzlepop is a little bit on the spicy side of life! Fizzlepop is also worried, and sweet, so were taking it slow as we get to know him and allowing him to build up confidence at his own pace. Come on in to meet Fizzlepop and see if he is a good match for your family!

Sunshine truly lives up to her name. She’s a big, bright personality with so much love to give, and she enjoys being right in the middle of the action with her people. After some recent changes, she started out a little shy in the shelter, but it didn’t take long for her playful, affectionate side to shine through.
In the shelter environment she was shy at first, but quickly blossomed into a goofy girl. She loves to explore, play with stuffed animals, and soak up all the attention she can get!
Sunshine has big feelings about the volume of other dogs here at the shelter, and is looking for a home where she won’t be required to interact with other dogs. It’s a big ask, but when she looks at you with those gorgeous hazel eyes like you’re the only person in the world, you’ll know she’s worth it. If you’re excited about positive reinforcement training and are searching for your other half, Sunshine might be the girl for you!

Gilligan prefers the company of human friends to canine and feline friends and wants to be your only pet, but would enjoy having dog friends to go on walks with once he settles in to his new home!

Meet Ned! His favorite things are getting treats, working on puzzle toys, kongs and busy boxes! He is a sweet and snuggly guy with his people. Ned loves to play and is full of energy, and would make a great companion for a hiker, runner, or just an admirer of the great outdoors. Ned prefers the company of human friends to canine friends but has had some positive interactions with well-matched dogs. He has met a few dogs while in our care, and we have observed that he prefers introductions to be slow and calm, like parallel walks, to give him time to get comfortable before jumping into play. He also seems to prefer dogs with a polite play style that can exist and gently play with him instead of crashing and wrestling. Ned is an eager learner and is looking for a patient adopter who is prepared to do training. He needs some help mastering polite greetings, leash skills, and puppy some basics.
If you think Ned could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

Meet Blitzen, a bright, bouncy teenage pup with energy to spare and a whole lot of love to give. This active girl lives to play and is as smart as she is food-motivated, which means she learns fast and enjoys training when treats are involved. Blitzen is still polishing her manners, both with people and around other dogs. She would benefit from having stable, playful, and tolerant adult dog friends, either in her home or among regular friends and family. She’s looking for a household ready to keep up with her fun-loving spirit and continue her training journey. Any kids in the home should be mature enough to participate in training and comfortable with her enthusiastic jumps. ** Should meet any potential dog siblings on campus before adoption to determine compatability
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Blitzen. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Nole and Pepper are a pair of curious birds who are looking to find a home together. They have not had the most socialization with people, which can lead to them being a bit nippy when hands get too close. Nole and Pepper enjoy watching tv and listening to music together. This pretty pair is looking for a patient family who can help them settle in at their own pace.

Look at this little sweet pea! Avon is friendly and silly and playful and just all around adorable. Is that not exactly what everyone wants in a puppy? At any moment, this little girl will crawl on your lap, or pounce on a toy, or do a full assault on your shoe laces. Be prepared!
Avon would love to go to a home with a confident dog that can both show her the ropes and also deal with all that a puppy entails. Cats are a possibility, if your cat can handle a silly puppy. And kids who want to play endless games of tug would be perfect. A puppy brings so much love into a household. They also bring some work. First thing will be to puppy proof the house. Avon is such a baby, she will need to learn everything, starting with how to wear a collar and leash. The rewards are worth all the work!
Would you like to meet Avon? Come see her at the MSPCA in Boston on Tuesdays through Sundays from 12PM to 3:00PM.

Meet Moo Moo! Moo Moo has been overlooked due to their age – while kittens and young adults cats are often adopted quickly, many of our senior cats wait longer to find their perfect match. We think Moo Moo deserves the best retirement home, and adopting a senior can be extremely rewarding. They are extra grateful and so are we! Moo Moo is a little bit on the spicy side of life! Moo Moo would do best with an adopter who is not phased by a little pizazz, is willing to learn to read cat body language, and can give her time to adjust to a new home. While she may never be a cat that enjoys close cuddles, she has been known to enjoy the company of her people and reward them with slow blinks and her majestic presence. Moo Moo would benefit from a cat savvy adopter and a quiet home who can give her the time and patience she needs to settle in and let her sweet personality shine. Come on in to meet Moo Moo and see if she can spice up your life!

Mulberry is as sweet as his name! He is excited to meet people and once he warms up, hes an absolute social butterfly. Mulberry enjoys playing outside and also settling down in a comfy spot with a good chew. Mulberry is looking for an adopter who is excited to get to know him and learn his signals. Cupcake is a goofy, lanky, and lovable girl who brings big joy and even bigger energy wherever she goes!
She loves running, chasing, and playing with other dogs, and she has a fun, clumsy charm that makes her hard not to smile at. She also enjoys snuggles with her people and is highly motivated for training, especially if treats are involved!
Cupcake is still learning her house manners and how to settle in a home environment, so she’s looking for an adopter who is ready for a trainable dog with lots of potential. She’ll do best with structure, routine, and plenty of environmental management as she learns what’s expected of her.
With patience, consistency, and a good sense of humor, Cupcake will thrive as an active, social companion who brings a lot of fun and personality to her forever home.

This rat is part of a large surrender so we have less individual information about them. The group of females have a good history living with other females, and are social with people. They tolerate handling, but may still benefit from additional socialization, and an adopter that understands it may take them some time to warm up to their new home and the people in it. These rats will need to go home in pairs (or more) or to a home with existing female rats to have as companion.
Rats are nocturnal, highly social and extremely intelligent animals! Due to the highly social nature of rats we prefer to match them with homes with existing rats, or to adopters looking to take home two or more rats. Rats can be food driven (and great foragers!) making them excellent animals to train. We always recommend the use of positive reinforcement training with your animals, and are happy to provide more information on this topic.
We recommend providing a safe indoor enclosure that allows the rat plenty of space to exercise. The minimum cage size should be 2’x2.5’x2’, with good ventilation (no glass enclosures) and must have a solid base. Preferably the shelter includes multiple levels, with appropriate use of linens or paper bedding and lots of rat appropriate toys. Rats should never be housed with other animals, each species should always have its own housing.
The needs of each rat are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the rat you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Meet Bambi! This fun loving, pint-sized girl came to us on a transport from a shelter out of state so we don’t know much about her history. What we have found is that she loves to play with her toys and is super snuggly once her needs have been met. We know that she would do best with an adopter who can provide her with some structure and a gentle approach to training while she catches up on her manners.
