Meet Nymeria, a striking 6 year old husky looking for her new home! We have limited info on this kiddo, but we know that she was living in a bubble in her previous home–not regularly meeting new people or dogs–and so will do best in a quieter home in a low-traffic area, where she can adjust at her own pace. Nymeria is a true snack connoisseur, and she’s been making great progress on some of her home skills using positive reinforcement training (she is currently working on her housebreaking, walking on leash, and some other basics). Adopters should have some patience and a good sense of humor as Nymeria adjusts to living in her new home, and be ready to manage their environment as needed to help her be successful.
Nymeria will do best with adopters ready to practice petting consent–meaning, letting her be the one to initiate interactions, and not petting her if she’s not asking. Any children in the home should be ready to follow the same approach, and participate in her training and management plan! Nymeria lived with dogs in her previous home, but has been avoidant when interacting with dogs in our care, so she could do ok with a mellow dog to help show her the ropes, but might also like to be your one and only.
If you’re looking to add a new canine companion to your home, then look no further than Nymeria–she might be worried to start, but given some time to settle in and a gentle and patient hand, Nymeria’s sure to shine!
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Nymeria. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

We know that she would do best with an adopter who can provide her with some structure and a gentle approach to training while she catches up on her manners.

Meet the beautiful Xena. Xena’s our senior lady in the shelter right now, and she’s ready to find the perfect match to enjoy her golden years! Xena was described as a snuggly velcro dog in her previous home, and once she is settled into her new environment we have no doubt she will show that side of herself again. Xena is very sensitive and is oftentimes worried in new situations. She is looking for a family that can let her get comfortable at her pace and not put any additional pressure on her. This sweet girl’s dream home is somewhere where she can lay in a big comfy bed and get snuggles from her favorite people. It may be possible that she can live with another low energy dog, but a meet on campus beforehand would be most beneficial.
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Xena. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Meet Bianca, a 4 year old poodle mix looking for a new home. Bianca came to us from a breeder, so while we don’t have a lot of information on her past, we know that Bianca does not have the same background as a typical dog—she lived predominantly outdoors, and was not going on walks or exploring new environments.
Bianca is looking for a patient adopter ready to cherish the quiet moments, and who can provide a peaceful, low-traffic environment where our furry friend can feel safe and secure. Bianca will need help learning how to live in a home, since she’s never done it before! Adopters should be ready to help her on her training journey, including learning how to walk on leash or housebreaking. If there are children in the home, they should be ready to provide Bianca with patience and space as needed to help her blossom into her best self.
Bianca could potentially go home with a mellow and confident dog ready to help show her the ropes. She has no history interacting with cats, so if there were cats in the home, she would need full separation to start and a slow introduction.
If you’re looking for a loving, sweet and sensitive companion with a gentle soul, Bianca might just be your perfect match. Come on down to learn more about her!
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Bianca. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Meet Gilligan! Their favorite things are sniffy walks, his people, and treats. Gilligan is a sweet and sensitive pup looking for an understanding family who is willing to use positive reinforcement to build confidence. You will fall in love! Gilligan loves to play and is full of energy, and would make a great companion for a hiker, runner, or just an admirer of the great outdoors. Gilligan prefers the company of human friends to canine and feline friends and wants to be your only pet, but would enjoy having dog friends to go on walks with once he settles in to his new home!
Gilligan may start off a little cautious, but give them time and a cozy spot to settle in, and youll see their sweet and loving personality shine!

Meet Wellie Grant! This older gentleman is a transfer from our other location in Salem because of this we have limited history on him. During our care he was a little nervous at first but he’s gotten more comfortable with us. He will require an experienced cat owner knowledgable of a cats body language and behavior. He might also want to be the type of cat that likes to keep to himself so having a future adopter willing to give him his space and time to adjust to his environment will be very important! If you think you’re the right fit or would like to know more about him please come on by today!

Lovebirds can be lovely, cuddly, and curious but can pack a big personality into their small little body. Primarily native to Africa, lovebirds can range in size from about 5 – 6½” and can live up to 12-15 years with proper nutrition and care. These little birds can be a chatty bunch, singing and whistling throughout the day, but most commonly at dusk and dawn. They are not known for mimicking human speech but with patience and plenty of effort can be trained to perform other tricks. We recommend that lovebirds live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Lovebirds tend to thrive in pairs as their name implies.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each lovebird are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the lovebird you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.
