BOSTON, Dec. 2, 2014 – Against the backdrop of #GivingTuesday, a day dedicated to giving back to non-profits the world over, the MSPCA-Angell today announced that its annual Homeless for the Holidays Bake and Gift Sale will run from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. beginning Thursday, Dec. 11 and ending Sunday, Dec. 14 at the MSPCA’s Angell Animal Medical Center lobby in Jamaica Plain, Mass.
All proceeds from the sale benefit the MSPCA’s Boston adoption center, which takes in and places into new homes thousands of animals every year.
Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the YMCA and the United Nations to promote philanthropy during the traditional season of giving.
Members of the public can shop an extensive array of pet gifts including toys, beds, scratching posts, treats, collars and more—from supporters including Up Country and Mountain Cat Trees. Baked goods include cupcakes, tarts, cakes, pies, cookies and more from some of Boston’s best-known bakeries.
Pet photos with Santa
The MSPCA welcomes pet owners to have their picture taken with Santa for a $30 donation, which includes a framed photo as well as four digital images. The MSPCA encourages anyone interested in participating to make a reservation by calling 617-524-5708. Photos will be taken on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14 between 9:00a.m.-5:00p.m.
Amazing Pet Gifts Under Every Tree
Every year the MSPCA receives generous support from well-known companies who donate merchandise. Among those participating this year are Polka Dog Bakery, Mountain Cat Trees, Mimi Green and more.
The Homeless for the Holidays sale will also include scrumptious baked goods for people from Bread & Chocolate Starlight Creatives, Party Favors and more.
Holiday Wine Tasting with President Carter Luke
The MSPCA is also hosting a special wine tasting with President Carter Luke on Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 6pm-8pm. Guests can sample eight different wines from across the country and ask any and all questions of Luke. Tickets are $40 and Kappy’s Fine Wine and Spirits has donated all wine for the evening so that all proceeds go directly to the animals in the Boston Adoption Center. Space is limited so readers should visit www.mspca.org/homeless4holidaywine to purchase tickets today.
