BOSTON, Aug. 19, 2016– The MSPCA-Angell announced today it has received $17,000 in grant funding from the Massachusetts Animal Coalition through the “I am Animal Friendly” license plate program.
The MSPCA received three separate grants. The first will provide 125 free pit bull spay/neuter surgeries to dogs in targeted communities which include Roslindale, Mattapan, Roxbury and Dorchester as well as Methuen, Lawrence, Lowell and Haverhill. The second grant will help low income owners spay/neuter their dogs in targeted towns around the MSPCA Cape Adoption Center.
The MSPCA will be working in a coalition with other local rescues, shelters and animal control for the third grant to spay/neuter dogs, cats and rabbits from Lawrence, Lowell, Haverhill, and Methuen.
Jean Weber, Director of Animal Protection at the MSPCA said “The grants from the Animal Friendly License Plates are essential in helping us work with communities in need in Massachusetts to provide low cost high quality spay/neuter services. These surgeries will help to control the homeless pet population in Massachusetts by keeping animals healthy, happy, and in their homes.”
