Human and Canine Walkers Take to Aselton Park to Celebrate Animals
BOSTON and Centerville, Mass., Sept. 12, 2016 – Fresh on the heels of adopting three rabbits into new homes as part of its We Got Buns, Hun! fee-waived rabbit adoptathon, the MSPCA-Cape Cod has unveiled a packed agenda, and all-new sponsors, for its annual Walk for Animals, to be held Saturday, Sept. 17 at 12:00 p.m. at Aselton Park in Hyannis, Mass.
The Walk for Animals is expected to draw more than 200 walkers, and just as many four-legged participants, who will march to raise money for the animals in the MSPCA-Cape Cod’s care. The Walk has already raised $37,000 to fund ongoing operations at the adoption center and Director Mary Sarah Fairweather hopes to reach $50,000 by the time the event concludes.
“The extended forecast calls for walkers, dogs and a lot of fun,” said Fairweather. “We’re really looking forward to it!”

Cape Cod Broadcasting’s Cutest Pet Contest
Also at the Walk, Cape Cod Broadcasting will announce the winner of its Cutest Pet Contest, with the winner receiving a $1,000 gift certificate to the Hyannis Country Garden.
Special Guest: Dakota
Participants will have an opportunity to meet Dakota, a 12-year-old Pomeranian adopted from the MSPCA-Cape Cod this month by Ruth and Jim Drowne of Buzzards Bay, whose personal mission is to provide a safe and loving home for elderly animals. Dakota was surrendered to the MSPCA-Cape Cod on August 25 with matted fur and diseased teeth. The new-and-improved Dakota will be eager to greet his fans on the grass of Aselton Park with his new family!
