*Please be sure your town regulations allow for roosters on your property before you inquire about adoption!*
Roosters for hire! We have so many good boys hanging out in our bachelor pad waiting for a flock of ladies of their very own. Our roosters are respectful of people and social with other birds –: they are ready to do their job of protecting your hens! Roosters are full of personality and make great additions to any hobby flock!
Henny is a sweet, affectionate older girl who absolutely loves her people and will happily lean in for all the pets and rubs you’re willing to give her. She also has a charming grin that shows off her goofy, endearing personality once she feels comfortable.
With a peaceful routine, clear structure, and plenty of love from her people, Henny has all the potential to be a deeply loyal and affectionate companion who thrives in a home where she can finally just be herself.
Since Henny prefers the company of human friends to canine friends, she would prefer to be the only dog in the home.
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Henny. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Meet Nymeria, a striking 6 year old husky looking for her new home! We have limited info on this kiddo, but we know that she was living in a bubble in her previous home–not regularly meeting new people or dogs–and so will do best in a quieter home in a low-traffic area, where she can adjust at her own pace. Nymeria is a true snack connoisseur, and she’s been making great progress on some of her home skills using positive reinforcement training (she is currently working on her housebreaking, walking on leash, and some other basics). Adopters should have some patience and a good sense of humor as Nymeria adjusts to living in her new home, and be ready to manage their environment as needed to help her be successful.
Nymeria will do best with adopters ready to practice petting consent–meaning, letting her be the one to initiate interactions, and not petting her if she’s not asking. Any children in the home should be ready to follow the same approach, and participate in her training and management plan! Nymeria lived with dogs in her previous home, but has been avoidant when interacting with dogs in our care, so she could do ok with a mellow dog to help show her the ropes, but might also like to be your one and only.
If you’re looking to add a new canine companion to your home, then look no further than Nymeria–she might be worried to start, but given some time to settle in and a gentle and patient hand, Nymeria’s sure to shine!
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Nymeria. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Meet Chloe! This girly might be shy at first, but quickly blossoms into a friendly and playful buddy. She spent some time in a foster home before joining us at the MSPCA, where she enjoyed hanging out with her people and playing with toys of all kinds (stuffies beware – she’s a shredder!). She’ll happily settle down with some strong toys, or a frozen Kong filled with peanut butter. She’ll thrive with an adopter who’s excited about training using positive reinforcement, and able to manage some frustration while they workshop her space.
*If going home with another dog, a dog meet is required on campus first
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Chloe. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.
Meet Kali! Her favorite things are cuddling on the couch, long sniffy walks, getting pets, and carrying around her toys. Kali is a bit nervous at first in new situations, but warms up quickly and is looking for a patient family who can give an adopted dog some time to decompress in the new home. Kali enjoys a good walk like any dog, but definitely likes to settle into a good snuggle session at the end of the day. Kali has lived with other dogs in the past, so we think she may be able to live with a dog with a slow, careful introduction.
Kali has been through a few transitions recently, and may need a gentle start, but once she feels secure, she’ll reward you with endless love and loyalty!
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Kali. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Checkout Girl is currently in a foster home, email her foster mom at cbourgoin@mspca.org for more information.
Calling all goths, night owls, third shift workers, tender hearts, black cat aficionados, and feline savvy people: meet Checkout Girl, though she may not be excited to make your acquaintance in return. This lady’s history is a bit of a mystery, but we do know she spent the last few years of her life living in a grocery store where she hid all day and only came out at night to do her Cat Things. Checkout Girl likely has limited socialization around people and has still been keeping vampire hours in her foster home. But she has also shown some twinkles of promise with slow, and gentle interactions. A quiet, adult only home with *very* low expectations and a high cat IQ will be her best chance at success, cat friends encouraged! If you’re willing to give Checkout Girl a chance at moving from the stock room to a living room email her foster mom at cbourgoin@mspca.org to find out more.

Due to this he has been undersocialized with other humans, these types of cats will most likely need extra time to adjust to their new home and new family. He will need an experienced cat owner to understand his body language and behavior. If you think you’re a match or would like to learn more about this special guy please come on in today!
Stop by our Boston Adoption Center to meet Mickey. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm - 3pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

This active, expressive girl is full of personality and always ready to share her thoughts! She loves getting out for walks, hopping in the car for an adventure, and settling down with a good chew after a day of fun.
She’s a “chatty” companion who isn’t shy about letting you know what’s on her mind, so she’s looking for an adopter with a sense of humor who’s ready to help her learn more polite ways to communicate. She’ll also benefit from an experienced home that understands her need for space around her favorite items and is committed to positive, thoughtful training.
While she can be excited about other dogs, she’ll need guidance and advocacy to help her navigate those interactions successfully. With structure, enrichment, and a patient, dog-savvy adopter, this lively girl will make a fun, engaging, and devoted companion.

He would do best with an adopter who is not phased by a little pizazz, is willing to learn to read cat body language, and can give him time to adjust to a new home.
Fizzlepop is also worried, and sweet, so were taking it slow as we get to know him and allowing him to build up confidence at his own pace. Come on in to meet Fizzlepop and see if he is a good match for your family!

Budgerigars, the most common parakeet we see, are native to Australia where they live in massive flocks in the grasslands. Parakeets tend to be docile, gentle, can be easy to tame and can even talk! Despite their small size, these birds can have large vocabularies and can make a wonderful training companion. We recommend that parakeets live in pairs or groups whenever possible. Parakeets can live up to 7-15 years with proper nutrition and care, and can be a loyal companion.
We recommend a cage that is at least 27”x24” (Width x depth) with a maximum of ½” bar spacing. Cages should include lots of perches, trays for food/water and lots of toys for enrichment. Nests can be provided but should be removed if any females begin to lay eggs. We do not recommend a seed only diet as it can lead to malnutrition and other potential issues, please consult your vet for specific diet recommendations.
The needs of each parakeet are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the parakeet you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Say hi to Nala! Nala has it all – shes pretty, smart, and social. Nala is crate trained and has been working on lay down. She is looking to continue her training when she moves into her new home. She loves walkies and also settles down nicely. If you are looking for a hang out partner or help getting your steps in, Nala is your girl! Nala is looking for a spot where she can decompress and relax, and an adopter who can read her signals and advocate for her. Nala has lived with another dog before and the two did not have the same play style. She could live with another dog well-matched again given a thoughtful introduction. Nal has lived with both cats and children and could do so again. Cat introductions should have a thoughtful introduction.
If you think Nala could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

This rat is part of a large surrender so we have less individual information about them. The group of females have a good history living with other females, and are social with people. They tolerate handling, but may still benefit from additional socialization, and an adopter that understands it may take them some time to warm up to their new home and the people in it. These rats will need to go home in pairs (or more) or to a home with existing female rats to have as companion.
Rats are nocturnal, highly social and extremely intelligent animals! Due to the highly social nature of rats we prefer to match them with homes with existing rats, or to adopters looking to take home two or more rats. Rats can be food driven (and great foragers!) making them excellent animals to train. We always recommend the use of positive reinforcement training with your animals, and are happy to provide more information on this topic.
We recommend providing a safe indoor enclosure that allows the rat plenty of space to exercise. The minimum cage size should be 2’x2.5’x2’, with good ventilation (no glass enclosures) and must have a solid base. Preferably the shelter includes multiple levels, with appropriate use of linens or paper bedding and lots of rat appropriate toys. Rats should never be housed with other animals, each species should always have its own housing.
The needs of each rat are unique and if you have questions about the right type of enclosure for the rat you are interested in, please visit us and talk with our volunteers/staff! We are happy to provide guidance and advice.

Meet Lulu! This 10 year old cat is worried and sweet, so we’re taking it slow as we get to know her and allowing her to build up confidence at her own pace. This kitty is on a low-carb diet and is on medication to help manage her diabetes (staff can tell you more!).
Lulu has been overlooked due to her older age – while kittens and young adults cats are often adopted quickly, many of our senior cats wait longer to find their perfect match. We think Lulu deserves the best retirement home, and adopting a senior can be extremely rewarding. They are extra grateful…and so are we!
Stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center to meet Lulu. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 1pm-4pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Meet Jade, a charming older gal looking for that special someone to be the center of her world. Jade is a busy lady who would thrive in a quiet environment with a consistent routine and a family who is ready to make adjustments as she continues to settle in. She lived with children in her previous home, but was worried or overwhelmed when there was too much commotion, so she would do best in a lower-traffic home–if there are kids in the home, they should be able to follow her management plan.
Jade can be a tad worried when meeting new people, but once she warms up, she is falling into your lap wanting endless pets. She says no thank you to living with dogs right now, please! Jade was reportedly scared of the cat in the previous home, so would prefer any cats in the home to be mellow and tolerant, and would need full separation onto start.
Miss Jade has a history of bladder stones, so is currently on a prescription diet. Adopters should plan to establish regular care with a vet to ensure that she’s feeling her best.
If you think Jade could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

We’d like to introduce a very special cat named Chloe. She is a four year old playful cat that loves getting pet, playing with toys, and has a regressive case of FeLV, or Feline Leukemia Virus which may shorten her lifespan, and we are hoping to find her a loving indoor-only home where she can live out her life. Despite her diagnosis, she is a social and affectionate cat with her humans! Chloe would need to be the only cat in the household, or have feline friends that also have FeLV. Interested adopters should click the inquire button below to learn more and shelter staff will provide additional counseling on FeLV and answer any questions at the time of adoption.
More info on FeLV can be found here: https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951934
