Henny is a sweet, affectionate older girl who absolutely loves her people and will happily lean in for all the pets and rubs you’re willing to give her. She also has a charming grin that shows off her goofy, endearing personality once she feels comfortable.
With a peaceful routine, clear structure, and plenty of love from her people, Henny has all the potential to be a deeply loyal and affectionate companion who thrives in a home where she can finally just be herself.
Since Henny prefers the company of human friends to canine friends, she would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

Max is a sweet older man who is having a difficult time here at the shelter. It is just too loud and busy. Max enjoys his quiet time and taking walks with other calm dogs. He shares a close bond with his dog friend Lucy and loves spending time with her. Once he is comfortable with his people, he enjoys running around and playing with toys. And he has a great history of living with kids. Max could live with another dog and has a strong history of doing so, especially with a compatible companion like Lucy. He has never lived with a cat, so that might work using a careful introduction. Max is a very good boy. Would you like to meet him?
If you think Max could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevins Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 pm – 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed.

Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Meet Blitzen, a bright, bouncy teenage pup with energy to spare and a whole lot of love to give. This active girl lives to play and is as smart as she is food-motivated, which means she learns fast and enjoys training when treats are involved. Blitzen is still polishing her manners, both with people and around other dogs. She would benefit from having stable, playful, and tolerant adult dog friends, either in her home or among regular friends and family. She’s looking for a household ready to keep up with her fun-loving spirit and continue her training journey. Any kids in the home should be mature enough to participate in training and comfortable with her enthusiastic jumps. ** Should meet any potential dog siblings on campus before adoption to determine compatability
Stop by Northeast Animal Shelter to meet Blitzen. We have open adoption hours 7 days a week from 11:30am-5pm - no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available pets.

Skinny Quinny is a friendly, eager-to-please girl who loves being with her people and is always up for a fun training session, especially if treats are involved! She’s a big fan of fetch, enjoys her toys, and lights up when she gets to play and interact with those she trusts.
She’s still learning her manners and how to keep her excitement in check, so she’s looking for a patient adopter who enjoys training and is ready to help her practice polite leash walking and calmer greetings. A structured, positive reinforcement approach will help her succeed.
With consistency, guidance, and plenty of enrichment, Skinny Quinny will blossom into a loyal, fun, and affectionate companion who’s happiest right by your side.

Meet Bella! This playful girl has been waiting patiently at the shelter for her perfect adopter to come along.
Bella has been overlooked due to her age – while kittens and young adults cats are often adopted quickly, many of our senior cats wait longer to find their perfect match. We think Bella deserves the best retirement home, and adopting a senior can be extremely rewarding.
Bella is a little bit on the spicy side of life! She would do best with an adopter who is not phased by a little pizazz and is willing to learn to read cat body language.
Bella is also worried, and sweet, so were taking it slow as we get to know her and allowing her to build up confidence at her own pace. Bella is looking for a patient adopter who can let her adjust to a new home.

Meet Toph, a young and adorable female guinea pig looking for her next adventure. Toph is a girl that enjoys lounging in a pile of hay, nibbling on big lettuce leaves, and listening to soothing classical music. Toph used to be bonded to her sister Suki, but the pair began fighting several months ago. While their owners did everything they could to support these girls, they were unable to successfully reunite them fully. They are here at our shelter living side by side as neighbors with a wire divider between them. If they are adopted together, they are looking for skilled guinea pig owners that could support these sisters through their complex behavioral needs. We are also open to fully sperating them and sending them home to be only children in their new family. Please come in and talk to a staff member about either of these ladies if you are interested in helping them on their journey!

Meet Baloo! His favorite things are sniffy walks, cuddling and getting pets from familiar people, and treats. Baloo is a bit reserved at first, but is able to eventually warm up and is looking for a patient family who can give an adopted dog some time to decompress in the new home. Baloo loves to play and is full of energy, and would make a great companion for a hiker, runner, or just an admirer of the great outdoors. Baloo prefers the company of human friends to canine friends and wants to be your only dog, but would enjoy having dog friends to go on walks with. He has lived with cats before, but only briefly interacted with them, and we think he would live with a dog-savvy cat with complete separation to start!
Baloos first few weeks at home should be calm and predictable, with a small social circle and plenty of space to decompress. Hes looking for adopters who can read his body language, respect his need for space, and use positive reinforcement to help him build confidence.

Cady is a smart, shy, sweet girl who loves long walks with her favorite people! She is very food-motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement training. She has enjoyed spending time around other mellow dogs at the shelter, so we think she could do well with a canine sibling that is comfortable with a more calm friend, or she`d be happy being your one-and-only dog. Cady will do best in a low-traffic, quieter home environment without children.
Cady often starts off a little cautious, but give her time and a cozy spot to settle in and youll see her sweet and loving personality shine!
