MSPCA-Angell’s Fall in Love Fee-Waived Cat Adoptathon is Back!

Love (for adult cats) Don’t Cost a Thing Nov. 5th and 6th

BOSTON, Methuen and Centerville, Nov. 1, 2016– The MSPCA-Angell will waive its $150 adoption fee for adult cats on Saturday, Nov. 5 and Sunday, Nov. 6 during its annual “Fall in Love” adult cat adoptathon and—in a new twist—will help another animal rescue group adopt its cats into loving, permanent homes as well.

The MSPCA’s three adoption centers in Boston, Methuen and Centerville are currently home to over 100 adult cats (aged one year and up), and the staff is eager to see as many of them go home as possible.

And new this year: the MSPCA will help the Guardian Angels Cat Rescue in Natick adopt out its cats from the MSPCA’s shelters, ensuring that even cats not currently bunking down at the MSPCA have a chance at landing a forever home in November.

Every cat placed into a new home will be spayed or neutered, immunized, microchipped and fitted with a collar and identification tag.

“We are once again expecting strong interest in the fee-waived cat adoptathon,” said Jean Weber, director of animal protection, MSPCA-Angell.  “We’re so grateful to our donors whose generosity makes it possible for us to significantly increase the number of cats we can place into homes during these very special weekends.”

All three of the MSPCA’s adoption centers—Boston, Methuen and Centerville—will participate in the adoptathon.  The MSPCA has created an online destination with details on adoptable cats, hours and directions and other pertinent information for would-be adopters.

Adult Cats Rule!
Adult cats make wonderful pets for individuals and families because most have already lived in a home—often with other pets—and their personalities and habits are fully established.  And because cats can live upwards of 20 years or more, one-year-old and older felines have many healthy and active years ahead of them.

Funding for the 2016 Fall in Love adoptathon has been provided by the Ivan Smith Adoption Challenge, the Community Cats Podcast and the Catvocates, an all-volunteer assembly of cat enthusiasts who donate time and money to help find permanent homes for adult cats in the MSPCA’s care.
