Humane Education Programs for Kids

Little Bookworms Story Time is the perfect reading program for our youngest supporters! Join us for a fun animal story, followed by an opportunity to meet one of our adoptable animals. Afterwards, enjoy a self-guided tour of the animal shelter with your family. infant – pre-k

Rescue Readers at Nevins Farm Accompanied by a parent or guardian, children will read out loud to an adoring canine, feline, or even rabbit audience in this fun family event. all ages

Summer Camp is one of our most popular programs — and has been an integral part of our humane education department for more than 20 years! ages 6 – 14 

Educational Visits Our staff can offer a presentation to your local school, after school program, or camp to teach students about the importance of caring for animals responsibly. We are happy to bring an animal along for your visit. all ages

Volunteer Opportunities for Kids Under the Age of 16 :

Family Service Day Volunteer with a parent at one of our Family Service Days! ages 5 to 15

Junior Volunteer Program This is a fun hands on opportunity for teens to volunteer in a group setting at the animal shelter. Roll up your sleeves and help at the small animal shelter with our end of the day chores, morning barn chores, or beginning of the day animal care chores. ages 11 – 15

Summer Camp Junior Counselor This volunteer position as part of our summer camp staff involves commitment during the summer helping kids and animals! Create unforgettable memories and make lifelong friends at the MSPCA Children’s Summer Camp! Teens (MUST be 15 prior to the start of camp)

Host a Bake Sale or Lemonade Stand at Nevins Farm This is a perfect way for individuals or small groups to enjoy a weekend day at Nevins Farm, raising money to support our animals medical needs. Email us at humaneeducation@mspca.org to schedule. all ages
